GPSacreage (PalmOS)

Use your Palm and GPS to do surveying (calculate surface area for real estate of any shape of size). If you have a serial connection between your NMEA enabled GPS and your PDA, then it will automatically log readings from the GPS unit. WOW! Easy to download easy to use. Seems to be very accurate. I have used it in my iQue 3600 as fast as 80 MPH down to walking speeds. I will recommend to everyone I know that could use this product.

GPScalc (PalmOS)

GPScalc is a calculator to convert between geodetic longitude and latitude to UTM eastings and northings and to calculate distance and headings between waypoints to within 1 cm accuracy between your GPS position fixes. Read more 05-Feb-02 by Michael Kilby GPScalc is an excellent tool for converting coordinates between UTM and GPS. Tested accuracy (using WGS 84) is even better than claimed (within 5 mm), and is good enough for setting reference stations for DGPS. Conversions do take a second or two to run, but the five-star rating is still well deserved for accuracy and support.

Navcalc (PalmOS)

NavCalc allows you to perform the following complex calculations :

If you know the coordinates of two points you can calculate the bearing and distance between the two.
If you know the coordinates of one point, as well the bearing and distance to a second unknown point, then you can calculate the coordinates of the second point.
If you know the coordinates of two points, and the bearing from each to a third unknown point, then you can calculate the coordinates to the third point.

GPSmapper is a PC based program that works with GPSgrabber or GPSacreage to allow you to convert captured GPS data into text based vector maps that can be drawn on the computer screen. It also allows you calculate areas or super-impose a tracks over a bitmap picture of a map. GPSgrabber (PalmOS)

GPSgrabber allows you to use your PDA with GPS as a datalogger to collect GPS co-ordinates and save them in specific database files. Checklists (PalmOS)

Checklists is free to registered owners of Birder to create logs of birds that they have seen. It comes with a large number of databases of bird names from all over the world. All you have to do is click on the alphabetic keypad to display all bird names that start with the letter that you clicked. Once you have located the bird in the list, you can mark it as seen by clicking on it. This will put an asterisk (*) in front of the name. You can also un-mark it by clicking on it again. If at any time you would like to have a list of all observed birds, then select export. This will generate a lifelist which can be exported to a Palm notepad. Once it is in a notepad you can edit it or transfer it to your PC via a Hotsync operation.
